Birthwork
HUE offers prenatal, birth, and postpartum doula services. We believe birthing people and families deserve care, support, and advocacy throughout these sacred times.
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support for birthing people and families before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas also support people going through various life experiences including death, gender transition, abortion, and family planning.
Our approach to birth-work is rooted in Reproductive Justice. HUE empowers and acts on behalf of all individuals and families to assert our right to bodily autonomy, our right to have or not have a child, and our right to do so in safe and sustainable communities.
Traditional birth keepers and community-based doulas continue to chart the path in shifting the trajectories of maternal and reproductive health realities for Black and Indigenous people by providing holistic, competent full spectrum reproductive care and support within our communities. This service of love is vital in the restoration and longevity of our personal, familial and communal well-being.
